All the important stuff....
THEATRIX TERMS AND CONDITIONS
BEHAVIOUR AND RESPECT
Theatrix students are required to show respect and consideration to their tutors and each other. It is an integral part of the school ethos to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy.
Any disruptive or unreasonable behaviour will be reported to parents in the first instance. We are a fair and tolerant school, and will work with parents/students to resolve any underlying issues, however, persistent bad behaviour or behaviour that we feel is detrimental to the school, our staff or other students will result in that student being asked to leave classes. In the event of a student being asked to leave the school for unacceptable behaviour, there will be no refund of fees.
UNIFORM & BELONGINGS
There is a compulsory Theatrix school uniform for all disciplines. Uniform must be worn at all classes, with additional track suit through the cold months. Required footwear is compulsory. Dance shoes can be purchased through ttc.mydancestore.co.uk or from local dance wear shops. Please make sure that all uniform and shoes are clearly marked with your child’s name, otherwise mislaid items of clothing cannot be identified. All uniform and shoes can be purchased at : http://ttc.mydancestore.co.uk. Go to the section at the top of the page relating to classes you have booked online and complete your requirements. Most items arrive within 48 hours. Theatrix brand takes longer, as each item is printed separately.
We ask that students do not bring cash or valuables to classes, as Theatrix cannot be held responsible for the loss of any personal items or possessions. Jewellery should not be worn. Stud earrings are acceptable, but must be removed for examinations. Senior students are not required to wear school uniform; however, we do ask that they wear appropriate, comfortable clothing for lessons and suitable footwear for dance (Ballet shoes, tap shoes, jazz shoes, Irish shoes). Check out our uniform site above-there's lots of choice.
For all students: Hair should be neat and tidy. Long hair should be tied back and away from the face.
If a student must bring a mobile phone to classes it will be at their own risk. We ask that all mobiles are switched off, or on silent during lessons, and stored away in a safe place (NOT carried into the lesson in pockets). Making / receiving / checking calls or messages during classes will not be permitted. Please respect your tutor and other students by waiting until break or the end of classes to use your phone. In the event of a parent /carer needing to contact a student urgently, please text the Principal on 07624 431380 and your message wlll be conveyed at the first convenient opportunity.
Students sometimes have a short break during classes. Please provide water to drink and if necessary fruit or a bread based snack. Fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps, gum and chocolate are not permitted on the school premises (unless for health reasons and accompanied by a written request from a parent). If your classes only last 60 minutes, students will only need water. NB: Energy drinks are banned within the precincts of the school.
ONLY Senior students are permitted to leave the school premises during their break. All other students are required to stay on school premises until the end of classes.
LEAVING SCHOOL PREMISES
Junior and Intermediate students must be collected from their last lesson by a parent or older sibling. Please advise us in advance, preferably by email or text, if you have asked any other adult to collect your child. No student from this age group is allowed to leave on their own or meet a parent outside.
To comply with Health & Safety regulations, any student who needs to leave classes early, MUST inform their tutor or a member of staff on the day so that they can be marked off the register, (even if prior notice has been given to the Principal). This applies to all age groups.
Please ensure we are kept up to date with contact details for all parents and guardians. In the event of a student becoming ill or needing medical attention we will contact parents or emergency contact numbers. If we are unable to contact an appropriate adult we will act in loco parentis and seek medical attention as we judge appropriate. Please make sure we are kept up to date with any necessary medical information.
PAYMENT OF FEES
Fees are payable in advance before the first day of each term. We regret that we are unable to accept weekly payments for classes. Terms and half term weeks are based on the Isle of Man Department of Education and Children school dates. Fees cannot be refunded for non-attendance at classes. Please note: Fees are payable per half term, and remain the same regardless of how many weeks are in the half term. This balances out over the year, as school terms vary between 10 and 14 weeks. Payment can be made via our website: www.theatrix.biz, or your cheque may be sent to the Principal at least 7 days before the first lesson. If you pay by cash, please ensure that it is in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, and the envelope is opened and counted in the presence of the Principal. In this instance you will also need to fill out the cash book. The teacher is not permitted to spend valuable lesson time dealing with cash payments.
From time to time we will take photographs or video footage during classes/rehearsals / shows etc., which may be used on our website or for other advertising material. Please advise the office, in writing, if you have any objection to images of your son/daughter being used for this purpose. As a Performing Arts school it will be assumed that this procedure is acceptable, unless advised otherwise by parents in advance.
We hope your son or daughter will remain with us for many years, as most of our students do, but when the time does come to say goodbye we require a minimum of half a terms written notice from a parent/guardian. This notice must be given prior to the end of term to enable us to offer the place elsewhere. In the event of a student not returning to a new term, without giving the appropriate written notice, an invoice will be issued for half a terms class fees, in lieu of notice.
REGISTRATION: Registers are compiled from payments through 'shop' on this website. Additional details will be added in class. Please notify us of any relevant changes in personal or contact details at your earliest convenience. If you have difficulties booking online, Theatrix will complete this manually once payment is received. Only students booked online are covered by our insurance.
It is the responsibility of the parent / guardian to advise the school of any health problems or behavioural issues, and to keep us updated of any changes.
To avoid embarrassment to students, please let us know if your son or daughter is a slow reader or has dyslexia or any other learning issues. We will always endeavour to offer extra help where needed. For examination purposes, a doctor’s note describing any condition which may affect the students’ performance is required. This should contain the Doctors qualifications, surgery address and contact number, email and signature in the event that our awarding body, BTDA wish to verify any details. All health, educational and personal information is treated in the strictest confidence.
COMPLAINTS: It is important to us that we deliver the highest quality of Performing Arts training. Should you have a complaint, please contact the Principal on Mob: 07624 431380 or Email: email@example.com. in the first instance. We will do our best to resolve any issues to the satisfaction of all concerned. Please be aware that any negative comments regarding Theatrix Performing Arts Isle of Man posted on social media or in any other way eg, verbally to another party without prior discussion with the Principal may constitute an illegal act.
Your son or daughter will find a warm welcome at Theatrix, and we sincerely hope that their time with us will build confidence and give them many happy memories.
